Where: New York City
I couldn’t visit New York without visiting MoMA, and though surrounded by people wearing impressive bits of clothing and jewellery that might be described as ‘architectural’ or even ‘challenging’, I didn’t feel too out of place, and had a really lovely time. The main exhibition I took in was called Items: Is Fashion Modern? And I was pretty delighted with their inclusion of Spanx opposite the Yves Saint Laurent – it felt like a real study of fashion that could appeal just as much to the average fleece-wearer, as it could to the fashion architecturalist. That said, the architecture was pretty fantastic too.
Don’t miss: It’s such a famous place, full of so many wonderful things, your own ‘don’t miss’ will entirely belong to you. As far as I was concerned, seeing Wyeth’s Christina’s World reminded me of some special people
